Several Miami County athletes have been very successful in the 2021-22 school year, many excelling in various team and individual sports.
But one individual stood out as a very talented multi-sport athlete, Austy Miller of Bradford High School. Austy was a three-sport athlete, excelling in cross country, basketball and softball for the Railroaders, which is why she was selected as the MiamiCounty10.com Athlete of the Year.
Austy earned All Conference honors in all three sports by the Western Ohio Athletic Conference and was a First Team selection by the All-Southwest District in basketball and softball. At the All-Ohio level, Austy earned First Team honors in softball and Second Team honors in basketball.
In basketball, Austy led the Lady Railroaders to the district finals. She was the leading scorer in the WOAC, averaging 22.4 points per game, and was fourth in the league with 3.8 steals per game. Miller’s 1821 career points broke Bradford’s career scoring record of 1754 points set by Julie Cascaden in 1985.
Austy was a key contributor to Bradford’s state championship team in 2021 and had yet another memorable year in softball in 2022 as she helped lead the Lady Railroaders to the state final four. In the process, she compiled a .564 battling average with 51 hits, 51 runs scored, 12 doubles, 10 triples, 9 home runs, 38 RBI, 28 stolen bases and was named the “Player of the Year” in the WOAC.
Austy has committed to continue her athletic career at Ohio University, where she will play softball.
