
Piqua’s Avery Wiley capped her sophomore season by earning a spot on the podium at the Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association girls state tournament at Hilliard Davidson High School.
The sophomore wrestler finished sixth in the 100-pound weight class, dropping a 16-6 major decision to Bridget Hilliard of Minerva in her match for fifth place.
Wiley opened the tournament on Saturday with a pin of Emily Leeseberg of Gahanna, but dropped into the consolation bracket with a loss in the quarterfinal. She was able to bounce back with back-to-back victories to secure a state medal.
