BRANDT – Bethel has been on a roll as of late winning six of its last nine games – all coming against TRC opponents with the three defeats coming in one-run games against Tipp City, Minster and Indian Lake. Four of the last six wins for the Bees have been run rule victories with the latest being a 17-1 victory in five innings over Northridge on Thursday.
The win gives Bethel a three-game cushion in the TRC with a 10-1 conference record with three league games left against Milton-Union, Miami East and Troy Christian. Milton-Union is now second in the standings with a 6-4 record, while Miami East is third at 6-5 and Troy Christian is fourth at 5-5 in the league. One more win for Bethel secures an outright TRC Championship.
Bethel wasted little time breaking the game open as it scored five runs in the first, ten in the second and two more in the third for a 17-0 lead. The only run scored by Northridge came in the top of the fifth after the game was well in hand for the Bees.
The Bees used three pitchers in the contest – Grant Bean, Kyle Brueckman and Zach Goodman. The three only allowed six combined hits and one run.
Bethel racked up 17 runs in the game with Evan Goodman and Elijah Schroeder leading the way with three hits each.
