
SIDNEY – The Bethel Bees captured their second consecutive win on the road with a 24-15 victory over Lehman Catholic in TRC action Friday.
The win moves the Bees into third in the league standings with a 2-1 record in the TRC.
After Lehman opened the scoring with a touchdown in the first quarter, freshman quarterback Cooper Mears connected with Lucas Truman from 58 yards out with 3:37 left in the half. Jace Houck converted the point after to tie the score at 7-7.
It didn’t take long for Bethel to strike again as Elijah Alberti hauled in a five-yard pass from Mears with 1:43 left on the clock. Houck’s kick gave the Bees a 14-7 lead, which held up at the break.
The momentum carried over into the third quarter as Jace Houck connected on a 44-yard field goal to push the Bethel advantage to 17-7 and Lucas Truman followed with a 7-yard scoring run to make the score 24-7 in favor of the Bees at the end of the third.
Lehman attempted to mount a comeback and scored in the fourth quarter, but the Bees were able to hold on for the 24-15 win.
Cooper Mears tossed for 165 beards and two scores to lead the Bethel aerial attack, while the ground game accounted for 133 yards and a score.
