
COVINGTON – Bethel junior pitcher Luke Gray was in a zone on the hill Monday as he pitched a one-hitter in a 10-0 victory over rival Covington in TRC action. Gray struck out 11 batters and allowed just two runners on base – once on a hit and once on a walk.
The defense behind Gray was flawless as the Bees didn’t commit a single error in the field.
Bethel started off fast by scoring four runs in the top of the first and then put the game away with five runs in the fourth and another run in the sixth.
Offensively, the Bees recorded 10 hits and took advantage of four errors committed by Covington. Kyle Brueckman, Luke Gray, Colby Keiser and Anderson Mohler all had two hits, while Evan Goodman and Braylon Schroeder and one hit a piece.
The Bees made things difficult for the Buccaneers with its patience at the plate as they put 24 balls in play. Bethel also walked three time and struck out just once.
The Bees improve to 8-1 in the TRC and 9-9 overall.
