
CASSTOWN – Bethel defeated Miami East 14-4 in five innings on Tuesday to remain at the top of the TRC standings with a 4-0 league record and improved its overall record to 5-5.
Miami East drops to 2-3 in the league and 3-3 overall.
The game was much tighter than the final score, but Bethel was able to pull away with two big innings – the third and the fifth. The Bees plated were able to outscore the Vikings 11-1 in tho0se two innings by plating 6 runs in the third and 5 runs in the fifth.
In the other three innings – first, second, and fourth – both teams accumulated three runs as Bethel scored two runs in the first and one in the fourth, while Miami East scored a run in the second and two in the fourth.
Overall, Bethel tallied 14 hits to 4 for Miami East and both teams committed two errors.
Luke Gray recorded the win on the hill for Bethel and he went four innings. Anderson Mohler tossed the final inning to pick up the save.
Evan Goodman led Bethel with 3 hits, while Cody Belaet, Elijah Schroeder and Gabe Veldman had 2 hits a piece.
Vincent Crane and Kaeidin Pratt led the Vikings with 2 hits each and the other two hits came off the bats of Luke Hammaker and Michael Hohenstein.
