NEW LEBANON – The Bradford softball team defeated Fayetteville-Perry 11-1 on Saturday in the district championship game at Dixie High School. It was the fifteenth straight victory for the Lady Railroaders as they improve to 21-5 on the season.
Fayetteville-Perry opened the game in the top of the first with a home run, but that would be the only run scored against Nylani Beireis and the Bradford defensive unit.
Bradford responded in the bottom of the first with two runs as Abby Fike connected on a two-run home run from her clean-up spot.
The Lady Railroaders plated three runs in the second on a three-run homer by Austy Miller and then they scored two more runs in the bottom of the third to push the lead to 7-1.
Abby Fike kept the momentum rolling in the fourth inning with a solo home run, her second dinger of the game and then Bradford scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game with an 11-1 run-rule victory.
Nylani Beireis was her typical self in the circle as she limited Fayetteville-Perry to just three hits in the contest. She struck out three batters and helped herself out at the plate with two hits.
Abby Fike went 2-for-2 with two home runs, while Austy Miller went 3-for-4 with a home run and two singles. Alani Canan has a big day as well with three hits and scoring two runs.
Bradford will play Mechanicsburg next in the regional semifinal on Wednesday at Northmont High School.
