COVINGTON – In a neighboring rivalry battled between Covington and Bradford, the Lady Railroaders put forth a dominating performance – routing the Lady Buccs 25-3 in five innings.
And it was the extremely hot bats by Bradford that made a huge statement for the defending state champions as the Lady Railroaders rocked Covington with seven home runs in the contest – two each by Remi Harleman and Nylani Beireis and one each by Austy Miller, Zoe Brewer and Rylee Canan.
Bradford opened the game with three runs in the first as Zoe Brewer doubled to score the first run. Brewer was red hot throughout the contest as she doubled in the first, singled in the second and hit a grand slam in the fourth.
The Lady Railroaders plated 8 runs in the second and 10 runs in the third thanks to the powerful swings of Nylani Beireis, Rylee Canan, Alani Canan, Izzy Hamilton and Austy Miller.
Beireis was also impressive in the circle as she limited Covington to just three runs on three hits through three innings of action. Izzy Hamilton entered the game in the fourth and picked up the save.
Bradford had 23 hits in the contest to just 4 for Covington. The Lady Buccs committed 5 errors in the field, which is very uncharacteristic of a team who entered the contest with a 12-3 record.
The stats for Bradford were extremely impressive as Beireis drove in 6 runs on 4 hits and Brewer drove in 6 runs on 3 hits. Rylee Canan had 3 hits and 4 RBI, the same as Remi Harleman. Several other Railroaders had huge games as well, which led to a dominating victory.
The win moves Bradford’s record to 11-5 overall and 7-0 in the WOAC.
It also makes a statement that the Lady Railroaders are still one of the premier teams in the state of Ohio.
