
PIQUA – The Covington track teams competed in the Miami County Championships on Tuesday at Piqua High School with the boys finishing 6th out of 10 teams and the girls finishing 7th.
Individually for the boys, Asher Long won the 3200 meter run in a time of 10:01.31, while Hayden Barker finished runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 41’5″ – just one inch short of the county champion, Remi Brannan of Bethel.
The girls were led by Eliza Long, who finished runner-up in the 800 in a time of 2:33.75 and third in the 1600 in a time of 5:37.58. She also paced the girls 1600 relay team to a runner-up finish in a time of 4:33.02 where she was joined by Eve Welborn, Johanna Welborn and Carli Besecker.
