
DAYTON – For the second straight evening the Covington Buccaneers battled against Northridge in TRC action and captured a second straight win over the Polar Bears – this time a 5-1 victory on the road.
Tuesday Covington won 3-1 as freshman Tyler Jay tossed a two-hitter and Wednesday it was senior Jake Dilley who was in command on the hill for the Buccs. Dilley went the distance and allowed just one run on five hits. He struck out 8 and walked 3.
For the second straight night the Buccaneers played error-free baseball, which has been the key to Covington’s success in its six wins.
The Buccaneers scored 3 runs in the top fo the first, but couldn’t find a way to pull away until scoring a run in the first and another in the seventh.
Covington connected on 8 hits in the contest led by Dilley, who had 3 hits in 4 at bats and a run scored. Jensen Wagoner had 2 hits with 2 RBI and a ruin scored, while Tanner Palsgrove drove in 2 run and scored a run himself. Carter Owens and Kody Nelson also had hits for the Buccs.
The Buccaneers improve their record to 6-8 overall and 6-4 in the TRC and have won 6 of their last 9 games after starting the season 0-5.
