PIQUA – The Newton track teams competed in the Miami County Championships on Tuesday with the girls finishing 6th as a team and the boys finishing 8th.
For the girls, McKenna Downing won the 800 meter run (2:28.78) and Rylee Hess won the long jump (15′ 3.25″). Downing also finished runner-up in the 1600 in a time of 5:28.20.
Seth Coker and Eli Cook were the highest placers for the boys as Coker finished 4th in the 800 meter run (2:09.00) and Cook placed 4th in the high jump (5’6″). The boys relay teams placed 6th in the 3200 meter relay (9:38.90) and the 800 meter relay (1:42.55) and finished 7th in the 400 meter relay (49.60)
