
The Milton-Union wrestling team had a memorable day at the Division II Sectional on Saturday at Graham High School as the Bulldogs qualified eight wrestlers to districts and finished runner-up as a team to perennial state power Graham. The Bulldogs finished with 140.5 team points, well ahead of third place Valley View, who tallied 123.0 team points.
Winning a sectional title for Milton was senior Nicholas Devlin, who entered the tournament seeded third at 132 pounds. Devlin advanced to the finals with a 1:02 pin of Jayden Walter of Carroll and a 1:29 pin of Cody Swigart of Graham. He then won his championship match by an 8-7 decision over top-seed Caleb Kennington of Kenton Ridge.
Three Milton wrestlers advanced to districts by finishing third; Nick Butler (106), Andrew Collins (126) and Nathan Barker (150), while four Bulldogs placed fourth; Payton Mayfield (120), Zach Avery (138), Ian Coffey (165) and Cabin Fetters (175).
