COVINGTON – Troy Christian advanced four wrestlers to the district meet with three earning sectional championships and one wrestler finishing runner-up in what was one of the toughest sectional tournaments in Division III.
Claiming individual championships for the Eagles were Kyle Schroer (106 pounds), Connor Havill (175 pounds) and Lee Burkett (190 pounds). Havill is on a mission to earn his second straight state championship.
Jason Shaffer (126 pounds) finished runner-up in a very tough weight class consisting of three returning state placers from a year ago.
Earning district alternate status by taking fifth were Dalton Davis (132 pounds) and Seth Ryan (157 pounds).
As a team, Troy Christian finished fifth out of 14 teams by compiling 115 team points.
