The Piqua wrestling team finished ninth in the MVL wrestling tournament with 53.0 team points with some key wrestlers out of the lineup.
Still, the Indians managed to have four wrestlers placed in the top four in their weight classes with Andre Hollopeter leading the way with a runner-up finish at 144 pounds. Hollopeter recorded a pin of Lance Dudgeon of Fairborn and then knocked off top-seeded Sean Kelley of Tipp City 3-1 in the semifinal. He then fell to Ben Hartzell of Greenville in the finals.
Gavin Nelson (126) and Landen Martin (175) finished third, while Parker James took fourth at 285.
Nelson pinned Riley Nicholls in the consolation final, while Martin recorded a 10-7 decision win over Eric Daniel of Vandalia-Butler in his consolation final match.
Vandalia-Butler won the tournament with 241.5 team points.
