PLEASANT HILL – Bethel and Miami East played each other for the third time this season with a trip to the district final on the line. The first two meetings were tight with Miami East winning 2-0 on September 12th and Bethel claiming a 4-3 win on October 6th.
And Tuesday’s battle was much the same as Bethel held on for a 2-1 victory to advance to the district final against Madeira on Saturday at Trotwood-Madison High School.
Bethel struck first with a goal by Ryan Reittinger and shortly thereafter Maddie Montgomery scored to put the lead to 2-0.
The two goals was just enough as the Bethel defense made things difficult for Miami East. The Lady Vikings did score on a goal by Logan Phillips, but never found a way to score again.
With the victory, Bethel improves to 15-4-1 on the season and moves on to the district final, while Miami East ends its season at 15-4.
