
BRANDT – Bethel has talent on its roster making the Lady Bees a dangerous softball team, which Riverside found out first hand in a stunning 4-3 defeat on Friday.
Senior hurler Alyson Bird was stellar in the circle as she allowed just five hits against a Riverside team who entered the week in the hunt for a league title. Bird went the distance and allowed just one earned run.
Bethel scored a run in the bottom of the first and then Riverside tied the game with a run in the top of the third. The Lady Bees plated a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead with two innings to play.
Riverside battled back with a run in the sixth and another in the seventh, but the Lady Bees were able to hold on for the 4-3 win.
Bethel racked up 8 hits and committed 2 errors, while Riverside had 5 hits and committed 5 errors in the field.
Faith Moorefield went 3-for-3 and drove in a run, while Paige Kearns and Morgan Rodgers recorded two hits each. Alyson Bird, Ryleigh Fisher and Allie Sheen also recorded hits on the day,.
The victory improves Bethel’s record to 11-13 overall and 7-5 in the TRC.
