
WEST MILTON – Covington traveled to West Milton on Thursday in a critical TRC matchup against the host Bulldogs on a cold, windy afternoon.
And in a game where both teams combined for 24 hits – 13 by Covington and 11 by Milton-Union – the Lady Buccs were able to capitalize on their hits more en route to an 8-3 win.
The Lady Buccs scored 4 in the second, 2 in the fifth and 2 in the sixth, while Milton-Union scored 2 in the third and another in the seventh.
Covington’s Meg Rogers and Milton-Union’s Carly Zimmer both went the distance with Rogers picking up the win. Rogers struck out 6 and walked 1, while Zimmer struck out 5 and walked 2.
Eight Lady Buccs connected on hits with Erika Gostomsky, Taylor Kirker and Meg Rogers recording doubles. Rogers drove in 3 runs and scored another, while Reagan Lemp drove in 2 runs and scored one. Erika Gostomsky, Mara Newhouse and Nigella Reck each drove in a run as well.
For Milton-Union, Jenna Booher and Raegan Fulton had 3 hits a piece and accounted for runs. Carly Zimmer drove in a run on one of her 2 hits.
