DEGRAFF – Earlier in the season Covington had its hands full with a talented Riverside team where the game was a 3-2 outcome in favor of the Lady Buccs.
But Wednesday was a different story as Covington dominated the Lady Pirates en route to a 12-2 win in five innings. The win improves Covington’s overall record to 15-4 and the Lady Buccs remain atop in the TRC with a 9-0 conference record.
Junior Nigella Reck was stellar on the rubber or Covington as she went all five innings in capturing the win. She allowed just 3 hits while striking out 7 and walking 3.
Reck also helped herself at the plate with a home run and 4 RBI, while sophomore Karyanne Turner had a magical night by going 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Meg Rogers doubled twice and connected on a single, while Mara Newhouse had a pair of hits and Reaghan Lemp doubled. Erika Gostomsky also had a single to drive in a run.
In all, Covington tallied 11 hits and took advantage of one fielding error committed by Riverside.
