
WEST MILTON – Milton-Union showcased mental toughness by overcoming a 3-0 deficit to defeat Division I Kettering Fairmont 5-4 in eight innings on Monday to remain unbeaten at 4-0.
Fairmont plated three runs in the top of the first and held the Lady Bulldogs scoreless in their first two at bats.
But Milton-Union was able to break through with four runs in the third to take a 4-3 lead. Fairmont responded with a run in the fourth and neither team could score in the remaining three innings, which forced the game to go into extra innings.
Milton-Union held Fairmont in check in the top of the eighth and then scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
The Lady Bulldogs recorded eight hits with Addy Sanders and Annie Smith recording two hits each. Mylee Jones and Caleb McCarroll both doubled, while Raegan Fulton and Tyla Johns also connected for hits.
Mylee Jones started in the circle and went five innings, Caleb McCarroll tossed three innings and picked up the win.
