
After dropping the final five games of the regular season, Newton found success with back-to-back wins to open the sectional tournament.
Unfortunately, the Lady Indians (9-15) were pitted against state ranked Tri-Village (23-2) in the sectional final at Trotwood Madison High School on Saturday.
Tri-Village showed why its one of the top teams in the state as it surged to a 65-13 lead through three quarters of play.
Showing heart and competitive drive, Newton continued giving great effort and was rewarded with a 16-7 scoring advantage in the final frame.
It wasn’t enough, however, as Tri-Village advanced with a 72-29 win.
Newton was led ins coring by Reese Hess, who was the lone Indian to reach double figures in scoring with 14 points.
The Indians end their season with a 9-15 record.
