Troy Gymnastics Takes Second Place at MLK Meet By: Elise Hempker
TIPP CITY – Troy’s Varsity gymnastics team placed second out of 15 local teams with a score of 131.150 at Gem City Gymnastics Monday.
The Lady Trojans placed first on vault with a score of 33.8, second on uneven bars with a 31.95, 4th on floor exercise with a 33.5, and 5th on the balance beam with a 31.9.
“That was a great finish, considering all but two of the top teams in our district competed today,” said coach Larry McCoppin. “I think we made a statement to the rest of the district that we may be small in numbers, but we are going to be right in the mix as one of the top teams in the area”
Individually, Troy was led by Sophomore Kylee Snyder who came in 5th overall, placing 6th on vault with a score of 8.950 and 8th on bars with 8.650.
Junior Kylie Buechter finished 6th overall placing 6th on bars with an 8.650 and 9th on vault with a score of 8.800.
Senior Ally Wolfe came in 15th overall but placed 4th on beam with a score of 8.750.
Miami East Senior Keelie Miller placed 13th overall and finished 5th place on vault with a 9.000.
“We left room for improvement,” explained coach McCoppin. “But considering we are still in the first half of our season, we did a great job today.”
