CASSTOWN – Miami East defeated Bethel 11-4 on Tuesday to stay unbeaten in TRC play at 3-0 and improve its overall record to 4-3.
The Vikings surrendered a run to Bethel in the top of the first, but responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning and then pushed their lead to 11-1 with three runs in the third and five more in the fourth.
Bethel continued to battle and scored three runs in the fifth, but Miami East was able to prevent the Bees from making a comeback.
“Defensively, we are committing too many mental and physical mistakes,” said Miami East coach Brian Kadel. “We have put together some good innings but are still working on putting seven complete innings together. Bethel did a good job competing until the end. It is always good to find ways to win even when you are not playing at your best.”
Miami East tallied nine hits and committed three errors in the field, while Bethel had five hits and three errors.
The big hit for the Vikings came off the bat of Jadyn Bair, who connected on a home run. She also drove in three runs.
Madison Maxson went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, while Rachael Haak went 2-for-2 with 3 RBI.
Jacqueline Kadel picked up the win as she went seven innings in the circle. Kadel struck out five batters, walked two and allowed five hits.
