
WEST MILTON – Miami East improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the TRC with a 14-4 win over Milton-Union in six innings.
After a scoreless first inning, Miami East scored a run in the second, two in the third and four in the top of the fourth to build a 7-0 lead.
Milton-Union plated a run in the bottom of the fourth, but Miami East scored four more runs in the top of the fifth to go up 11-1 – leaving the Bulldogs just three outs to work with to prevent a run rule.
And the Lady Bulldogs were able to extend the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Miami East scored three runs in the top of the sixth to push its lead to 14-2 to put the Lady Bulldogs into a run rule scenario once again.
Milton-Union continued to battle by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but it wasn’t enough to extend the game to a seventh inning.
Miami East had 8 hits with Kalli Teeters, Abigail Kadel and Rachael Haak leading the way with two hits each. Teeters scored a run and drove in three more, while Kadel scored three runs and had two RBI. Haak scored a pair of runs to go along with two RBI as well.
Kyleigh Kirby went the distance in the circle as she allowed six hits and struck out seven batters.
For Milton-Union, Raegan Fulton had two hits, while Carly Zimmer, Miley Jones, Taylor Falb and Regan Robinson recorded hits.
Zimmer went three-and-one-third innings in the circle, while Fulton went two-and-two-thirds.
