
DEGRAFF – Miami East rolled to an impressive 13-5 victory over Riverside on Saturday to lock up at least a share of the Three Rivers Conference title for the second straight year. If Riverside defeats Covington on Monday, Miami East will be the outright champion in the TRC.
“The win gives us at least a share of the TRC championship,” said Miami East coach Brian kadel. “We were not as sharp as we had been, but came up with some big hits and a few defensive plays when we needed them.”
Miami East scored 2 in the first, 3 in the fourth, 2 in the fifth, 5 in the sixth and 1 in the seventh. Riverside scored 1 in the first, 3 in the fourth and 1 in the seventh.
Reagan Howell had 2 hits including a double, Kierra Kirby had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Maddie Maxson had 2 RBI, Abigail Kadel had 2 RBI, and Jaycee Roeth had 3 hits including a double.
As a team, Miami East compiled had 14 hits and had 3 errors in the field.
Jacqueline Kadel pitched all 7 innings – giving up 11 hits, 5 runs, 2 earned, walked 4 and struck out 3.
Riverside had 11 hits and 4 errors.
Miami East’s record now stands at 16-6 overall and 12-2 in the TRC.
