
GREENVILLE – Miami East picked up a big non-conference win on Wednesday, beating state ranked Greenville 8-4 on the road.
“Big win tonight at Greenville,” emphasized Miami East coach Brian Kadel. “The girls stepped up and made some big plays tonight.”
The game was knotted at 1-1 until Miami East broke things open with 4 runs in the top of the fifth to gain some momentum. The Lady Vikings then matched Greenville run for run over the final two innings as each team scored a run in the sixth and 2 in the seventh.
“We had several key hits to score runs,” Kadel said.
Miami East tallied 13 hits in the contest and held a very potent Green Wave team to just 6 hits.
Defensively Miami East played near flawless in the field, committing just one error.
“We turned four double plays, which were huge to keep Greenville from building any momentum,” Kadel explained.
Kyleigh Kirby was stellar in the circle as she went all seven innings and allowed just 3 earned runs on 6 hits. She walked just 3 batters and struck out 4.
Kalli Teeters had a huge night at the plate as she went 4-for-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Kayly Fetters doubled twice in the contest to drive in 2 runs, while Kirby helped out her cause with 2 hits and a double.
Abigail Kadel and Kiera Kirby has 2 his a piece and Jacqueline Kadel had a hit.
