WEST MILTON-Tipp freshman running sensation Landon Kimmel won his first Miami County Track Invitational at West Milton High School Saturday morning and led the Tippecanoe boys to a first place finish over second place Troy 27-44. Kimmel finished nearly 30 seconds ahead of second place Asher Long of Covington.
It was a cool, crisp morning at the Lowery Complex next to Milton Union High School and perfect weather for cross country as all ten schools in Miami County competed. There were 105 boys in the race with 16 runners finishing under 18 minutes with three under 17 minutes on a course that took the runners around the soccer fields, into the woods and out onto the running track for the finish.
Kimmel took the lead from the start and never looked back as six Red Devil runners finished in the top 10 to take the team title.
