COVINGTON – The Miami East Lady Vikings defeated Carlisle 52-25 on Thursday at Covington High School to set up a showdown with Versailles in the sectional final on Monday at 7:30pm. Versailles advanced by defeating Indian lake 57-31.
Miami East jumped all over Carlisle by outscoring the Indians 21-2 in the opening frame thanks to a smothering defense.
Offensively, Logan Phillips hit on two three-pointers and a layup, while Jacqueline Kadel hit a three and a bucket to get the momentum rolling. Camryn Francis, who finished with a game-high 11 points, scored on a pair of buckets inside the paint, while Maryn Gross converted a steal into a layup and McKayah Musselman hit on a short jumper.
The Lady Vikings pulled off the press and went to a half court defense the rest of the way, but still made it difficult for Carlisle to get much going at the offensive end.
Miami East outscored Carlisle 14-7 in the second to take a commanding 35-9 lead at the break and increased the advantage to 45-17 after three while rotating players in and out of the lineup.
In all, nine players scored for Miami East with Camryn Francis leading the way with 11 points and Logan Phillips contributing with 10 points.
