
HUBER HEIGHTS – Miami East traveled to Wayne on Saturday and came away with two impressive wins in a double-header, 10-3 and 19-15.
In the first game the Lady Vikings connected on 15 hits in the contest with Kyleigh Kirby leading the way with a home run and two doubles. Kirby went 3-for-5, drove in 3 runs and scored twice.
Reagan Howell had 3 hits on 4 at bats and drove in 1 run and scored another, while Jacqueline Kadel and Kalli Teeters each had two hits.
Kirby went 5 innings in the circle, while Annabelle Penny through 2 innings. The duo combined to hold Wayne to just four hits.
Miami East’s bats stayed hot in the second game, but the focus on defense lapsed with six critical errors.
Still, the Lady Vikings were able o pull out 1 19-15 win.
“We hit the ball well all day,” said Miami East coach Brian Kadel. “In game two, we had a couple of costly errors with two outs that let them back in the game. We need to continue to improve on defense to help our pitchers out.”
Kyleigh Kirby had another huge game at the plate as she went 4-for-5 its a home run, a double, 3 RBI and 4 runs scored.
Meg Gilliland drove in 5 runs on 4 hits and scored a run herself.
Jacqueline Kadel, Kyleigh Kirby and Annabelle Penny combined in the effort in the circle.
Miami East is now 4-0 on the season.
