COVINGTON – The Miami East Vikings had a big day Saturday in the sectional wrestling meet at Covington High School by winning the tournament with 196.5 points and qualifying seven wrestlers to the district meet.
Winning individual championships for the Vikings were Cooper Shore (120 pounds), Daniel Martin (150 pounds), Hunter Randall (165 pounds) and Dustin Winner (285 pounds).
Finishing runner-up for Miami East were Aaron Mills (144 pounds) and Drake Bennett (190 pounds).
John Kemp (157 pounds) finished in third place to round out the district qualifiers.
Bradon Lewis (106 pounds), Gabe Cole (113 pounds), Garrett Fine (126 pounds) and Chris Smith (175 pounds) will also make the trip to districts as alternates after finishing in fifth place in their respective weight classes.
