COVINGTON – Milton-Union avenged a 9-8 loss to Covington from earlier in the year by shutting out the Buccaneers 4-0 at Covington High School on Thursday.
Peyton Nichols tossed a gem as he allowed just 3 hits through seven innings. He struck out 6 and walked just 2.
With the defense behind Nichols playing error-free ball, the Bulldogs only allowed five Buccaneers to reach bases throughout the entire contest.
Offensively, all four Bulldog runs came in a huge second inning as Nichols helped himself out at the plate by driving in two of the runs. Nathan Morter and Nathan Thompson drove in the other two runs.
In all, Milton-Union connected on 7 hits with Zach Lovin and Peyton Nichols recording two hits a piece. Also connecting on hits were Connor Fijalkowska, Paul Lucente and Nathan Thompson.
