DIXIE – The Newton softball team broke open a scoreless game with four runs in the third inning and never looked back en route to a 13-3 over Dixie on Wednesday as the Lady Indians plated a run in the fourth, six in the five and one run in each of the sixth and seventh innings.
Newton connected on 7 hits in the contest and took advantage of 5 errors by Dixie.
Laci Miller went the distance for Newton, willing 3 runs on 7 hits and striking out 3.
Sienna Montgomery and Molly Norman both had 2 hits and 2 RBI, while Ashley Evans tripled and drove in 4 runs. Cori Haines and Laci Miller also connected on hits for Newton.
