
TROY- If you viewed the stats alone from Friday night’s Troy-Tipp football game, you would think Troy won.
The Trojans led in time of possession 36:00 to 24:00, outrushed the Red Devils 219 to 85 and had 17 first downs to Tipp’s 11.
On paper is one thing but as all coaches will tell you, it’s what happens on the field.
Tipp started the scoring at 4:55 in the first quarter with a beautifully thrown 31 yard touchdown pass from Liam Poronsky to Lukas Walker along the visitor’s sideline to make it 7-0 after Jackson Kleather’s extra point.
Troy tied the score at 8:56 of the second quarter with an 8 yard run by Jahari Ward with Andrew Hellman kick the extra point.

Tipp scored 2 more touchdowns before half time to make the score 21-7 on touchdown runs by Cael Liette and Xavier Jones.




Both teams traded possessions in the second half but neither the Red Devils or Trojans would score leaving the final at 21-7.
Tippecanoe’s Liam Poronsky led the Red Devils offense completing 13 of 26 passes for 157 yards and Jahari Ward of Troy, turned in another 100 yard game on the ground for the Trojans with a 139 yards on 32 carries.
Josh Dietz was the defensive star for Tipp with 12 total tackles and Noah Miller recorded 7 for Troy.
Tipp hosts Piqua for a Miami Valley League showdown Friday night between two 6-1 teams as Troy takes a 4-3 record down I-75 to play the 0-7 West Carrollton Pirates.
