
There were a lot of games this past week despite the horrific weather consisting of low temperatures, high winds and spotty rain.
Here’s a rundown of some games over the past week.
MONDAY, MARCH 28, 2022
TIPPECANOE 23 – STEBBINS 6
On Monday, Tippecanoe run ruled Stebbins 23-6 in five innings as Emily Miller and Ella Henn combined to strike out eight batters.
Charli Clausen went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored to go along with a home run. Maddie Carter, Emma Davis and Kaela May has two hits each.
In all, Tipp pounded out 15 hits and took advantage of 8 fielding errors committed by Stebbins.
TUESDAY, MARCH 29, 2022
TIPPECANOE 13 – STEBBINS 3
Tippecanoe run ruled Stebbins on consecutive nights, this time a 13-3 win in five innings on Tuesday.
Emma Miller picked up the win in the circle, while Maddie Carner went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Red Devils.
Tipp pounded out 11 hist and committed just 1 error.
GREENVILLE 5 – TROY 2
Troy dropped a tough contest to traditional power Greenville 5-2 on Tuesday in MVL action.
The Lady Trojans scored a run in the second and another in the seventh on a total of six hits, but four errors in the field were too much to overcome.
Lilly James threw very well in the contest as she strike out 10 batters in going the distance.
Allyson Burns led Troy with two hits on four at bats.
RIVERSIDE 10 – BETHEL 0
A young Bethel team dropped its season opener on Tuesday to Riverside, 10-0 in TRC action. Alyson Bird and Allie Sheen each connected on hits, while Lily Williams and Kaylee Eschete combined for the pitching effort in the circle that resulted into only four hits.
The downfall for Bethel was the seven errors in the field.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30, 2022
TIPPECANOE 7 – INDIAN LAKE 3
Tipp found itself down 2-0 late in the game until exploding for three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to claim a 7-3 win over Indian Lake on Wednesday.
Ella Henn went the distance in the circle, allowing just four hits while striking out eight batters.
Emma Davis connected on a home run and drove in five runs to lead Tippecanoe offensively.
Kailey Bryson had 3 hits as well.
BRADFORD 14 – NATIONAL TRAIL 4
Bradford, who enters the season as the defending state champions, run ruled National Trail 14-4 in five innings on Wednesday.
Austy Miller had a pair of triples and drove in two runs on a 3-for-4 day at the plate, while Rylee Canan connected on two doubles and drove in four runs.
Nylani Beireis and Remi Hamilton combined to allow just five hits in the win.
Bradford scored four runs in the first, five in the second and put the game away with five runs in the fifth.
THURSDAY, MARCH 31, 2022
TROY 11 – NORTHWESTERN 1
Troy run ruled Northwestern 11-1 in six innings on Thursday by pounding out 13 hits and playing error-free ball.
Abigail Welbaum picked up the win in the circle as she went the distance and struck out 10 batters, while allowing just four hits.
Welbaum helped out her cause at the plate with a home run and driving in three runs, while Abby Seger tripled and Lilly James connected on two hits.
NEWTON 11 – TWIN VALLEY SOUTH 0
Newton responded from a defeat to Milton-Union on Wednesday with a dominating 11-0 run rule victory over Twin Valley South on Thursday to even its record at 1-1 on the young season.
Laci Miller tossed a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts, wile Ashley Evans, Cori Hanes and Breanna Ingle was connected on two hits. In all, Newton pounded out 11 hits.
The Lady Indians scored a run in the first, five in the second, one in the third and four in the fourth to seal the win.
FRIDAY, APRIL 1, 2022
PIQUA 14 – SIDNEY 13
Piqua held on for a thrilling 14-13 win over Sidney on Friday, breaking a 13-13 tie with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Caylee Roe drove in 3 runs on 3 hits, while Kenos Anderson recorded 3 hits, 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. Julia Coppass went the distance in the circle for the win. She struck out seven batters in the contest.
SPRINGFIELD 17 – BETHEL 10
Bethel dropped to 0-3 on the season with a 17-10 loss to Springfield on Friday. The Lady Bees connected on 12 hits, but the seven errors in the field hurt their chances at victory. Paige Kearns led the way at the plate with three hits, 5 RBI and two runs scored.
XENIA 5 – TIPPECANOE 4
Tippecanoe held a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but Xenia was able to bring two runs across the late to hand the Red Devils a 5-4 loss.
Tipp recorded 6 hits in the contest coming off the bats of Ashley Aselage, Ally Broering, Emma Davis, Kyla Fry, Ella Henn and Kaela May.
SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 2022
NEWTON 9 – LEHMAN 8
Newton defeated Lehman Catholic on Saturday 9-8 in eight innings. Molly Norman went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Vivian Clark drove in 2 runs. Camryn Gleason had a pair of hits and scored 3 runs.
Layla VanCulin and Laci Miller combined to strike out 7 batters and allowed 15 hits.
NORTHMONT 3 – BRADFORD 2
Bradford dropped a close 3-2 decision to Northmont on Saturday. The Lady Railroaders tallied 7 hits in the contest, but committed 3 errors.
Austy Miller went 3-for-4 with a home run, and RBI and scored 2 runs.
Nylani Beireis and Izzy Hamilton combined to strike out 7 batters and allowed 7 hits.
PIQUA 13 – GRAHAM 11
Piqua defeated Graham 13-11 in a non-conference affair. Kenzi Anderson drove in 3 runs on 3 hits and scored 2 runs herself, while Caylee Rose had 3 hits, 2 RBI and scored 2 runs.
Olivia Anthony and Julia Coppass combined to strike out 5 and allowed 13 hits.
