


TIPP CITY- Saturday’s weather was so typical of what we have seen for spring sports in the Miami Valley: cold, rainy, snow and/or wind chill. At least tennis has options to play indoors whereas covered stadiums for baseball, softball and track are not yet available in this area.
The Schroeder Tennis Center hosted a high school invitational and all action took place on the 6 courts indoors although the outdoor courts were an option but weather prevented that from happening.
The Tippecanoe Red Devils showed up ready to play and won first singles, third singles and both doubles titles and had a runner-up title in 2nd singles.
First singles player Kessler Hackenberger won all three of his matches, only losing 2 games in the finals to Daniel Songer of Bellbrook.
Also in first singles, Troy’s Yasashi Masunaga finished in third place with a win over Kristof Manni of Butler 6-1.
Tipp’s Luke Blake lost a close 6-4 match to Bellbrook’s Simon Harasce in second singles.
Troy’s Henry Johnston finished in 4th place losing to St. Mary’s Artistide Brasille 6-4.
At third singles, Tipp’s Cameron Davis defeated Jacob Grismer of Bellbrook 6-1.
Aaron Davis and Sean Nichols of Tipp defeated Owen Massarelli and Zac Jones of Beavercreek 6-2 in first doubles.
At second doubles, the Red Devil tandem of Ryan Hartke and Grant Vonderheide won over Beavercreek’s Jay Panchal and Brian Yamada 6-4.
Also competing for Troy were Nathan Mamitag who finished in 8th place in third singles, Michael Burns and Aiden Miller took 5th place at first doubles and, at second doubles, Leo Gluck and cam Lombardo finished in 6th place.
Earlier in the week, the Tippecanoe Varsity A team traveled to Oak Hills and came home with a 3-2 win!! Tipp is now 2-1 overall this season!
