TROY- It was Trojan Athletics Hall of Fame Night at Troy Memorial Stadium as 5 new members were welcomed for enshrinement before the game against the Xenia Buccaneers. Xenia running back Trei” Shaun Sanders responded with a hall of fame performance of his own on the well-manicured turf Friday night as Xenia rolled to a 50-20 victory due mostly to Sanders 249 yards rushing on only 20 carries.
As a team, the Buccs rolled up 509 total yards in total offense while the Trojans managed to pick up 296 with Jahari Ward recording his second straight 100 yard game. On defense, Logan Ullery took another interception to the house and Gaven Burris covered an onside kick to give the Trojans the faintest of hope after the running clock had started at the beginning of the second half with Troy down 37-6.
Xenia was 6-9 on third down and the Trojans were 6-16 and Troy was 2-6 on fourth down while gaining 296 yards of total offense.
With Troy’s starting and back up quarterbacks out due to injury, junior Cameron Stoltz was called on to lead the Trojans and they did close the gap to 37-20 and stopped the running clock but Xenia added two more touchdowns to seal the game.
The Trojans regroup this week and will prepare for a visit this Friday to Piqua Memorial Stadium to continue the annual Battle on the Great Miami.
