GREENVILLE – The Troy Trojans opened their season by participating in the Greenville Invitational on Thursday at Title Creek.
And the Trojans had a solid showing they finished fifth in the team standings with a mark of 344.
Mitchell Sargent lead the Trojans with a score of 81, while Brayden Schwartz carded an 83. Luke Huber tallied an 89, while Bryce Massingill finished in 91 strokes and Zane Huelsman finished at 97 strokes.
“We have been ready to get started,” said Troy coach Mark Evilsizor. “What we look at is how we stack up with the teams in the league (MVL) and the teams we will face in sectionals. Mitchell had a real nice round for us and our senior Brayden Schwartz played well.”
The season is still early, but Troy’s performance on Thursday makes for high expectations moving forward.
“The big thing this year is competition on our team,” Evilsizor said. “We have eight guys who can play, so if one has a bad round he might not play the next day because someone else can step in.”
