DEGRAFF – Milton-Union shut down a very good Riverside team for much of Thursday’s TRC matchup, but two innings prevented the Lady Bulldogs from coming away with a victory.
Those two innings were the third and fourth, where Riverside plated all six of its runs – 4 in the third and 2 in the fourth – leading to a 6-1 defeat for the Lady Bulldogs.
Sophomore hurler Carly Zimmer went the distance in the circle, striking out 9, walking 4 and allowing just 7 hits. Zimmer also received help at the defensive end, which led to fourth scoreless innings against a really good hitting Riverside team.
Unfortunately, Milton-Union struggled finding offensive success against Riverside’s pitcher, junior Alaina Snow. The Lady Bulldogs managed just 3 hits in the contest and scored their only run in the top of the sixth. The hits came off of the bats of Rhi Emmons, Carly Zimmer and Jenna Booher. Emmons scored on a Zimmer base hit.
