PREBLE SHAWNEE – Miami East dropped its season opener to Preble Shawnee on Friday 61-7 in non-conference action. Shawnee entered the season coming off of a conference championship (WOAC) and state playoff appearance where it was defeated by Versailles, who went on to win a state championship.
For Miami East, Brian Laughman led the Vikings with 103 rushing yards on 12 carries and scored a touchdown. Michael Hohenstein had 123 return yards, while Aaron Mills tallied a team high 10 tackles.
Miami East (0-1) looks to rebound next week as it hosts Carlisle in the home opener.
