Miami East is a very young basketball team with all but two players on the varsity roster consisting of freshmen and sophomores.
Yet, the Vikings managed to secure a three-way share of the TRC Championship with Troy Christian and Milton-Union after escaping with a 42-40 win over Lehman at Miami East High School.
The Vikings finish the regular season with a 11-3 record in the league and 16-6 overall.
Lehman got out of the gate quickly by building a 14-9 lead after one and held on for a 25-19 lead at the break and a 34-29 lead at the end of three.
But Miami East has shown grit and determination all year, attributes that came to the forefront in the final stanza. The Vikings outscored the Cavs 13-6 down the stretch to secure a two-point win.
Leading the way for Miami East were sophomores Jacob Roeth and Wes Enis. Roeth tallied a game-high 15 points, while Enis dropped in 13 points.
The Vikings begin post-season play on February 23rd at Vandalia-Butler High School.
