
VERSAILLES – Versailles ended Miami East’s season a year ago and the Vikings were able to get a little revenge with a 6-1 victory over the Tigers on Monday.
Versailles took a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the third, but Miami East was able to respond with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Vikings scored two in the sixth and two more in the seventh to pull away for a 6-1 win.
The Vikings tallied seven hits, while Versailles recorded five hits.
Connor Apple went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in two runs, while Luke Hammaker went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Layton Hughes went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Keidin Pratt also recorded a hit for the Vikings.
Sophomore Adam Lawson picked up the win and Michael Till recorded the save. Lawson struck out three, walked four and allowed four hits in five innings of work, while Till allowed just one hit in two innings.
