
VERSAILLES – Miami East found itself down 3-0 after one inning, but outscored Versailles 6-2 over the remaining six innings to takes a 6-5 win over the Tigers.
After Versailles’ big inning in the first, Miami East plated a run in the second and then tied the score at 3-3 with two runs in the top of the third. The Vikings followed with two more runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-3 lead, but Versailles responded with a run of its own in the bottom half of the inning to cut the margin to 5-4.
Neither team could score in the fifth and sixth, but the Viking broke through with a critical run in the top of the seventh to give themselves a little more cushion, 6-4.
The run was critical because Versailles put itself in position in its final at bat by plating a run. Fortunately, Miami East was able to hold on for the 6-5 victory.
Wesley Nidzgorski picked up the win on the mound for Miami East, while Luke Hammier went 2-for-4 at the plate. Gage Butz, Austin Francis and Nathan Woolley also recorded hits for Miami East.
Miami East improves to 4-1 on the season.
